Home means Nevada to .. somebody else?

I just need to vent a little about Clark Countys apparant total lack of caring regarding Nevada day. Despite searching through the net and the papers, I couldn't find anything besides a museum exhibit. I asked the only two actual native born Vegasites I know about what they did in school for Nevada day and they looked at me blankly. They didn't even know the state song!!! I mean what is going on here? How can the biggest cities in the state act like nothing is happening? It kind of pisses me off.

P.S. For anyone who lives outside the state (or in Clark county for that matter...) Nevada celebrates it's entrance into the Union, which took place officialy on October 31, 1864. We our one of only three states who celebrate our admission day, the others being Hawaii, and to a lesser extent, West Virginia. It is considered a State holiday, so state angencies and schools take the day off. As of 2001(?), we observe Nevada day on the last friday before the 31st.

Nevada? Mmmmm. Sounds familiar!
I celebrated Nevada Day by working a 12 hour shift. Big fun!
